How Can Choose Place To Install a Camp

About the place to set up the tent (Dangerous riverbanks, avoid damp places)

When you arrive at the campsite, first think about where to put your tent before you set it up.First, look over the camp site. Setting up a tent on the side of a river, in a depression, under a cliff, in a river, or in a poorly drained area is taboo. First of all, try to avoid camping in such an environment. And choose a place where there is no unevenness on the ground. Water is less likely to collect in places that are slightly higher than on flat ground, so it is suitable. If water collects under the tent, it will cause flooding even if he has double ground sheets. Ideally, it should be in a well-ventilated place with moderate sunlight. In the summer, if the sunlight is too strong, the temperature inside the tent may rise, causing heat stroke and dehydration, so it is better to have a shaded area. However, avoid under large trees as there is a risk of dead branches falling and lightning strikes. Keep in mind that lightning is most dangerous in high places such as mountains and hills, and in large areas such as grasslands and riversides where there are no obstacles around.Once you've decided where to put your tent, remove the stones to ensure a good night's sleep. I can't sleep well because it's rugged. How comfortable your outdoor life is depends on where you set it up.Also, don't forget that nature sometimes strips us as a big threat. When it's really rainy or windy, you also need to choose to withdraw.

How to use the ground sheet

It is recommended to use a ground sheet under the tent when setting up. The name is different depending on the manufacturer, but at our company, the floor of the tent is called the floor, and the sheet laid under the tent for the purpose of waterproofing, antifouling, and damage prevention is called the ground sheet.By the way, regarding the ground sheet, even if it is not a special item sold at a camping equipment store, if you set it up on a dry ground, you can substitute a picnic sheet, a blue sheet, a garbage bag, a bubble wrap sheet for packing, cardboard, etc. I will.Of course, it is possible to set up without a ground sheet. Also, you don't have to cover all the floors. After opening the tent and before hitting the pegs, fold the ground sheet one size smaller than the tent floor before use.As a guide, keep it about 5 cm inward from the edge of the tent. (If you do not fold it inward, the ground sheet that sticks out will guide rainwater to the tent, which has the opposite effect.) If rain is expected, the blue sheet is not waterproof, so lay a garbage bag underneath.

Rain measures

It's best not to encounter rain on the day of the camp, but the weather is volatile, especially in the mountains, and campers almost always encounter rain. Even if the weather is fine, it may rain temporarily in the evening, so it is recommended to take waterproof measures in advance (see the following items for waterproof measures). In addition to tents, consideration for clothing is also important. We recommend that you bring a raincoat or mountain parka with good work efficiency instead of an umbrella for rain gear. The rain that hits the tent falls around the tent, so it's a good idea to dig a ditch around it. By digging a ditch around the tent construction site, it acts as a drainage ditch and prevents water from accumulating around it (see figure).

Depending on the camp site, it may be prohibited to make a groove. Please check with the administrator in advance. Ideally, the groove should be 10 cm wide and 5-10 cm deep.

Daily tent maintenance (water repellent treatment, etc.)

In order to fully enjoy camping and the outdoors, make sure to maintain it on a daily basis. The life of a tent varies greatly depending on whether it is maintained or not. A tent can only be maintained in good condition with proper maintenance.

1. Remove dirt after use

Garbage in the tent should be picked up each time, and mud stains should be wiped off with a wet rag when removing.

2. Dry the tent

If possible, dry your tent wet with night dew or rain and put it in a storage bag before withdrawal. Before withdrawal, leave the pegs on only one side of the tent and turn the tent over around that side to dry the bottom of the tent without being blown by the wind. When the weather is bad, put the tent in a large garbage bag and let it dry at a later date when the weather is nice. If the tent is left as it is for a long period of time, mold will form and an offensive odor will be generated. If you smell it, wash your tent with water.

3. Water repellent treatment

The water-repellent effect on the tent fabric decreases with use. The water-repellent effect is greatly improved by simply applying a water-repellent treatment when it is new, compared to the state it was just purchased. Be sure to spray the water repellent in a well-ventilated place after cleaning the tent. It is effective not only when it is new, but also when it is used several times on a regular basis. At the same time, it is more effective to apply a sealing tape to prevent rainwater from leaking from the seams of the tent fabric.

4. Waterproof treatment (for advanced users)

The floor of the tent is heavy and water repellent spray is not very effective. It is effective to apply a special waterproof liquid with a brush or apply the seam sealant mentioned above to the seams of the fabric.
