Classification of generation

 Generation

General term

Generation refers to'se' , which refers to the approximately 30-year cycle between human beings born and conceives children, and'dae, which means that the first born and the later born alternate. It is a word created by the combination of', and refers to the average time it takes for a creature to be born, grow and give birth to its own baby.

Humans are usually 25 years old, and fruit flies are usually 12 days a generation. Also, a group (cohort) of creatures determined accordingly, that is, a group of people whose birth dates are roughly similar, are also called generations.

The first definition is emphasized in biology and the second in sociology.

Even in human-made objects, the expression of generation is used metaphorically. Of course, a product does not give birth to children, but if a product develops gradually due to the development of technology, it is sometimes referred to as a product of several generations depending on the degree of development.

Classification of households by country

Since Mannheim, generational research has mainly focused on generational conflict based on homogeneity within generations and heterogeneity between generations, but in modern academia it is necessary to talk about the developmental relationship between generations or to compare the same generations between different societies. Also do. There is also a movement to introduce mathematical analysis to enhance the rigor of the discussion.

The material in this document is, strictly speaking, closer to the commonly known or used cohort than to the generation itself. Going deeper into the generational theory, there are a ton of factors at work, such as cohort + hierarchical theory + normative theory +.... Unlike the generational divisions shown below, there are many ways to divide the generations, and therefore, it must be recognized that there is no established concept of generational divisions, and just because it is general, it cannot be interpreted completely academically.

Classification of generations in Korea

After the M generation, the expression itself is not used well. The world is changing so rapidly, and the wording of generation is a bit outdated. The word'smart generation' sometimes hits the press, but there are many overlaps with the pre-M generation, and it is based on the devices of the era, not the characteristics of the generation, so it is impossible to determine from where to where.

The terms such as Generation Y and Generation Z appearing in the American/European generational division are very widespread terms among Americans that no one knows. On the contrary, the terms that appear in the generational division in Korea are not widely used terms, but are made by a small number of journalists. Among them, terms other than terms such as baby boom, 386 generation, and generation X are rarely used.

If you dare to refer to that generation in society, people born after the 90s are called "millennials" or "there are generations", "young people", societies beginners, school bugs, and feed bugs. I don't use such abbreviations. As a result, as the etymology of the term was created, the criterion was inevitably less clear than in the US/Europe. In fact, in society, this distinction itself has been largely obsolete, but if it is necessary to distinguish between the generation X and the eco generation, if they are in a public relationship, they are simply referred to as Generation X, and if they are in close relations on the net with strong anonymity, then for those born in the 80s, two or eight years ( As a changed use case in paragraph 3) (...) It is common to hit a drip, and M and N since the 90s are commonly referred to as these days or millennials.

Japanese occupation period generation

In general, it refers to the generation that was born during the Japanese colonial rule and suffered intense extortion and exploitation, as well as 8.15 liberation and the Korean War. At this point, the majority have died.It is also the industrialized generation who practically built the Republic of Korea during the period of extreme turmoil after the war with strong viability. In general, there are many cases where the ability to speak Japanese well has passed, and there are many cases where the memory of traditional culture remains intact. In particular, when it comes to Japanese, some people have forgotten about it, but there are also people who go to Japan and have a daily conversation even when they turn 90. People born in 1924 are called abruptly according to the kanji of the year, and as a generation called'don't ask, abruptly'. Suffered. And, born in 1937-1945, when Japan was defeated by the United States during the Sino-Japanese War and the Pacific War, and the Korean Peninsula was liberated, they were the protagonists of the April 19th Revolution and the June 6th Demonstration. In general, the late 1920s to mid-1930s are the parent generation of baby boomers, the late 1930s to early 1940s are the parents of 586, the mid-1940s are the parents of Generation X, and most of the 6.25 veterans are 1920 It was born in the early 1960s to the mid-1930s.

These are the generations born between 1996 and 2010. It is a generation that is experiencing a turbulent world that has changed rapidly since the IMF financial crisis at the end of November 1997. In many cases, children who were just born were left behind and the infrastructure related to infants was not properly equipped, and due to economic difficulties that began after the IMF, double-income phenomena occurred, and children did not receive proper education at home. In addition, as China grew rapidly, many investments were transferred to China, and jobs in secondary industries were reduced due to the relocation of factories facing low labor costs to China and Southeast Asia. In the aftermath of the reduction of labor costs, the society is beginning to advance into society in a situation where young people are being driven by mass production of non-regular workers and youth unemployment. For this reason, it is evaluated as a generation that has suffered a lot of hardships due to things that were not properly liquidated in 1987, authoritarianism of 586 generations, and beta occupancy of social capital of older generations. A generation that reached adolescence at a time when Korea was considered to have entered the ranks of advanced countries, the level of policy stance and sophistication of the Korean government, backward behavior in politics, poor economy, backwardness in social culture and lack of civic consciousness, etc. Compared to the governments, systems, and structures of advanced countries, it is very primitive, and it is the generation that feels the most painfully as it grows with the development of information and communication technology. In addition, the widespread use of optical LANs and portal-centered Korean Internet infrastructure were captured, which led to greater Internet benefits than the previous generation. It is the generation who has experienced the recession, digital transformation, and population cliffs, including the recession of the
economy.
