Mr. Biden aims to reduce "ghost guns", a presidential decree to tighten gun control

US President Joe Biden announced an executive order on gun control on the 8th. He aims to reduce unregistered and untraceable "ghost guns".

"In this country, gun violence is rampant and internationally embarrassing," Biden said in the courtyard of the White House, calling for gun control.

The new gun control measures are enacted using an executive order and do not require congressional approval.

Specific measures include making rules for specific types of guns, strengthening background checks on gun buyers, and supporting local violence prevention activities.

But even for Mr. Biden, gun control is not easy. The right to own a gun is protected by Article 2 of the Amendment to the United States Constitution. Many Americans consider regulation to be an infringement of this right.

Hours after the announcement of the day, a shooting incident at a cabinet maker in Brian, Texas killed one person and injured five. A state police officer was also shot and injured while securing the suspect.

On the 7th of the previous day, a shooting incident occurred in South Carolina, killing five people, including two children. Former professional American football (NFL) player Philippe Adams is believed to have committed the crime.

Last month, mass shootings occurred in Boulder, Colorado and Atlanta, Georgia. A total of 18 people died

Biden's complaint

Biden said in a statement today that guns kill 106 people every day in the United States.

He said, "This is a complete plague. We have to stop it."

Following this executive order, the Justice Department will come up with a plan to reduce "ghost guns" within 30 days.

The "ghost gun" is assembled by the user himself and cannot be tracked because it does not have a serial number. No background check is required when purchasing a set of assembly parts.

"Anyone, criminals or terrorists, can buy this set in less than 30 minutes and assemble their weapons," Biden said.

Increasing homemade guns

Experts point out that such homemade guns are increasingly being used in crime. More than 40% of the guns seized in Los Angeles are "ghost guns," according to federal authorities cracking down on firearms.

Biden also instructed the Department of Justice to develop rules for assistive devices to keep pistols stable within two months. The new rules will classify pistols with the aid into short-gun rifles and require stricter background checks.

He also instructed the Department of Justice to create a bill called the "Red Flag Act." Each state uses this law to create a state law that allows courts and judicial authorities to confiscate guns from potentially dangerous residents.

Higher Russian military and separatist tensions suggest possible intervention in eastern Ukraine

Russian officials said yesterday that Russia would intervene if Ukraine launched a full-scale attack on separatists on the issue of growing tensions between Russia-backed separatists and Ukrainian troops. He warned that it could help Russian-speaking residents of eastern Ukraine.

In eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian troops and separatists clash. Russia is strengthening its armaments at the border with Ukraine.

Under these circumstances, Russia's Deputy Secretary of State Dmitry Kozak said Russian troops could intervene in the Ukrainian affair to "protect" their people.

Why Ukrainian and Russian tensions are rising

Russia is increasing the number of troops stationed on the Ukrainian border, but also argues that it should not be taken as a threat.

White House spokesman Jen Psaki said the situation was "deeply alarming", saying the number of Russian troops was the highest since 2014, when the conflict in eastern Ukraine began.

Russia has not disclosed a specific number, but Ukrainian troops claim that Russian troops have mobilized about 20,000 people at the border of the country as of the end of March. A video on social media shows a Russian train moving heavy weapons towards the region.

Blurred on Chinese TV, Western brand logos involved in his Uighur problem

Chinese TV stations are broadcasting programs with the logos of Western brands blurred. The reason seems to be that Western companies have expressed concern after receiving reports that Uighurs are being forced to work in cotton production in Xinjiang, China.

The Chinese government denies forced labor. Recently, there has been a non-buying movement against many Western brands in the country.

Violent protests also occur online. Celebrities have cut off their ties with Western brands and have expressed their support for Xinjiang cotton.

In the reality program "Creative 2021", the blurring is even greater. This is because the performers wore Western brand products from their toes to their heads.

Perhaps the most difficult part to edit was the reality contest program "Youth Yusuke". This is because the number of participants is tremendous.

The program's production company, iQiyi, announced on the 25th of last month that the broadcast will be postponed. However, the reason was not disclosed.

When it was broadcast two days later, viewers immediately pointed out that the logos on the T-shirts of more than 50 contestants were blurred.
